The water supply in Barrhead is now running normally for all residents after an earlier report of disruption.

A small number of properties experienced an interruption to their normal water supplies this morning at 9.30am due to essential works in the area.

Scottish Water warned residents at the time that they may may experience no water supply, low/intermittent pressure or discoloured water as they repaired an issue on Weir Avenue.

Supplies were subsequently disrupted for a short period and restored at around 10.50am.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We apologise to a small number of customers in the Barrhead area who experienced a short interruption to their normal water supplies earlier today, following essential works in the area.

"The issue was dealt with and normal supplies returned as quickly as possible.

"We know how frustrating it is to be without water and thank those affected for their patience and understanding.”
