A SOAP star has slammed Neilston actor Kevin Guthrie who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a vulnerable woman.

Emmerdale actor Lawrence Robb hit out at the the Sunshine on Leith star after the verdict was delivered at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week.

Guthrie, 33, took advantage of the 29-year-old actress after she became ill during a night out and now faces a prison sentence.

The former St Luke’s High pupil insisted he had only "helped" the woman that night – but his DNA was found on the inside of her underwear.

Robb, from Kilmacolm, shared his disgust on Twitter at his former friend's actions.

He tweeted: "I know Kevin Guthrie, there was a time in my life when I called him a mate. He is a guilty man and deserves to not work again.

"My heart bleeds for the victim. She is a warrior and one of the bravest people in the world!

"Men who are in similar positions to what Kevin was - just be careful. I think it’s bloody wonderful you are  c******g your pants right now!"

A court heard last week how the incident took place in 2017 at the flat of fellow actor Scott Reid, who played Methadone Mick in BBC TV’s hit comedy Still Game.

The woman recalled that, when Mr Reid wasn’t in the room, she was groped by Guthrie before he performed several sex acts on her.

Guthrie wept and asked 'why?' as the guilty verdict was delivered and he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

Sheriff Hughes called for background reports and deferred sentence until next month.

He told Guthrie: "This must carry a custodial sentence for this serious matter you have been found guilty of."
