Police are urging residents to be on their guard against bogus traders after three reports of cold callers targeting properties in East Renfrewshire.
One of the incidents involved a suspect offering to clean gutters at an address in Aurs Drive, Barrhead, at around 6.45pm on Tuesday, April 6.
Officers also received reports earlier that day of cold callers offering to clean driveways in Newton Mearns.
The first incident there took place at 1.45pm in Hillview Brae, followed by another in Kirkview Crescent at around 4pm.
A police spokesman told the Barrhead News: “All involved offers of general services – cleaning of driveways and so on.
“Inquiries are ongoing at this stage to see if they are linked.”
Following these incidents, police are reminding residents to be vigilant if someone turns up unexpectedly to offer services or make repairs.
Often, these cold callers charge inflated prices for shoddy work or jobs that aren’t necessary.
