Entire classes at two further primaries in Barrhead have been forced to self-isolate following positive Covid-19 cases linked to the schools.

Earlier we reported that children from a class at Hillview Primary have been told to stay at home as a precaution and are due to return to the classroom next week.

East Renfrewshire Council has since confirmed that classes at Cross Arthurlie Primary and St Mark's Primary have also been made to self-isolate.

A spokesman for the council told the Barrhead News: “Following notification of positive tests linked to Hillview, Cross Arthurlie and St Mark's primaries, we made colleagues at Public Health aware and are following all necessary procedures, including one class at each school now self-isolating at home as a precaution.

"Parents have been informed of the measures we are taking and home learning provision is being put in place to support these pupils.”

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said that Test and Protect is carrying out contact tracing of COVID-19 cases linked to the schools.

A spokeswoman added: "To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, no further details will be released, however we can confirm that those identified so far as cases or contacts have been advised to self-isolate.

"We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to adhere rigorously to the general advice and requirements that are set out on NHS Inform and Scottish Government websites, including immediately self-isolating and seeking a test upon developing any symptoms."

The news comes just weeks after pupils in primary 1 to 3 and nursery youngsters were allowed to return to in-person learning on February 22.

All remaining primary pupils in Scotland are due to return to school full-time from Monday.
