MOTORISTS in Barrhead face weeks of disruption as a £300,000 upgrade of the town's water supply is carried out.

Scottish Water is advising drivers and local residents of road traffic management measures that will be in place in the Springhill Road area from Monday, March 15.

Temporary three-way traffic lights will operate in Springhill Road, at its junction with Park Avenue, so the improvements can be carried out safely.

This work will last for around two weeks before further improvements are carried out in nearby Colinbar Circle.

Scottish Water has said the road traffic management has been agreed in conjunction with East Renfrewshire Council.

Drivers will be asked to follow local diversions.

Georgina Reid, corporate affairs manager (west) for Scottish Water, said: “It’s important that our customers continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water.

"This essential work to improve the resilience of existing infrastructure and help reduce the chance of pipes bursting will help us achieve that.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank affected road users and local residents in advance for their patience and understanding.”
