CORONAVIRUS has claimed another four lives in East Renfrewshire, latest figures show.
According to the National Records of Scotland (NRS), the fatalities took place in the week ending February 28 and bring the area's total death toll since the pandemic began to 215.
Glasgow recorded the highest number of Covid deaths last week, at 26, followed by South Lanarkshire (18), North Lanarkshire (17) and Renfrewshire (16).
The figures include all fatalities registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate and, as this includes suspected or probable cases, it differs from the lab-confirmed coronavirus deaths announced daily by the Scottish Government.
Across Scotland as a whole, the death toll now stands at 9,580.
Pete Whitehouse, director of statistical services at NRS, said: “I am keenly aware that, for families, each and every death represents a tragic loss."
