A CARING worker at the Asda store in Barrhead has been praised by his colleagues for going the extra mile for a visually-impaired customer.

Alexander Andrews goes above and beyond to help the shopper, named Linda, every week by walking with her, picking up products and describing them so she can get everything she needs.

The supermarket worker said he was delighted to be nominated by his co-workers as a ‘service hero.’

He told the Barrhead News: “I’m so grateful to have been nominated. I am over the moon.

“To me, this is all part of the job. I thoroughly enjoy being able to help Linda shop with ease, whilst also having a chat every week.

“It’s important to look out for people and I’m lucky my job allows me to do this.”

Alexander has been a member of staff at the store for 30 years and general manager Colette McCluskey said she is proud to have him on her team.

She added: “Alexander is a very caring member of the team here at Barrhead.
“On every shift, he gives friendly and warm service to not just our customers but also his colleagues.

“He is a great worker and, without fail, provides exceptional customer service.”
