A SECOND man has been arrested by police investigating an alleged armed robbery at a Barrhead grocers.
Officers detained the 24-year-old suspect in connection with an incident that is said to have taken place at Premier Stores, in the town’s Cross Arthurlie Street, on January 3.
The arrest follows an appearance by a 32-year-old suspect at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday as part of the same investigation.
James Bennett, who was detained by police last week, faces charges of assault and robbery but made no plea.
He was remanded in custody pending a second appearance in the dock.
The 24-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
Commenting on the latest arrest, a police spokesperson said: "A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
