A BARRHEAD charity is encouraging residents to take part in a ‘Well Walk’ as part of efforts to tackle mental health issues during lockdown.

The team at Include Me 2 Club (IM2C), based in the town’s Main Street, launched the new initiative to help people improve their physical and mental wellbeing during current restrictions.

Every week, the charity maps out a number of walking routes in local areas and creates an activity sheet for people of all ages to follow.

A spokesperson for IM2C told the Barrhead News: “Our Well Walk initiative is about tackling mental health head on, challenging the stigma attached to it and firmly saying that it’s okay not to be okay.

“If you would like to be involved, we post our activity sheets on our social media pages and website every week.”

IM2C was formed by local couple Paul and Ashley McIlvenny in 2010 to offer help to children, young people and adults with additional support needs and disabilities.

The Well Walk initiative is just part of a number of services the charity provides to the local community.
