A MAN has admitted stabbing his partner 11 times with a steak knife during a murder bid at her East Renfrewshire home.

Brian Ivison attacked Nicola Renwick on December 8, 2019, leaving her with horrific injuries.

The High Court in Glasgow heard he had been anxious about returning to work the next day, having been off due to a personal issue.

Police who were called to the incident found 38-year-old Ivison sitting on a kerb outside the house in Castle Street, Newton Mearns.

He told officers: “I think I have just murdered my wife.

“I’m past the point of giving a f***. She’s dead.”

Prosecutor Ruth Charteris QC told the court that Miss Renwick suffered wounds to her head, neck, chest and arm, as well as a collapsed lung.

She also had a fracture near her eye.

Miss Charteris said Ivison had been off work on December 6.

She added: “This caused him to be agitated over the weekend.”

Ivison, of Newton Mearns, admitted a charge of attempted murder when the case called at court today.

He will be sentenced next month.
