TWO bus drivers in Barrhead have tested positive for Covid-19.

The husband-and-wife duo, who both work for McGill’s, are understood to have contracted coronavirus last week.

One of them even contacted customers, including Barrhead community champion Rena McGuire, to inform them he had tested positive and would not be at work.

Ms McGuire said: “He’s a really good driver and does not allow passengers on his bus without a mask.”

The duo are not being named by the Barrhead News but the husband normally drives the number 52 service, while his wife can usually be seen at the wheel on the number 3 route.

A McGill’s spokesman said: “We can confirm two members of staff tested positive for Covid-19 in late December.

“Both colleagues have complied fully with the instructions given to them by public health teams, both prior to and after their positive tests.”
