A POPULAR pub burned down last night in a blaze cops are treating as 'suspicious'.
Locals near The Travellers Rest called police around 9.30pm after seeing flames and smoke coming from the roof of the Neilston building.
Police said enquiries into the fire are ongoing and they are investigating.
Fire crews raced to the scene at 9.35pm last night.
Huge billows of smoke were seen for miles around and locals were asked to leave their homes while fire fighters tackled the blaze.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called around 9.35pm on Sunday, January 3, to a report of a fire at a premises in Neilston Road.
"It is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
