AN East Renfrewshire politician has launched a search for the most festive house in his constituency.

Jackson Carlaw, who is the MSP for Eastwood, is calling on residents to submit a photo of their Christmas lights or garden displays by Saturday, December 19, with prizes awarded to the most sparkling entries.

Constituents can enter by posting their snaps on the Jackson Carlaw Facebook page.

First prize is a £100 voucher for a local hospitality venue of the winner's choice.

Two runner-up prizes worth £50 are also on offer, with one to be chosen by Mr Carlaw and the other going to the entry with the most 'likes.'

These prizes will be in the form of a voucher for a local hospitality venue or retail outlet.

Mr Carlaw told the Barrhead News: "Seeing the great efforts people have already gone to in decorating their houses has prompted me to find the very best.

"In a year with so much uncertainty, it is lovely to see the community making such an effort to boost festive spirit.

"I am delighted that the prizes will be spent locally, supporting hard-pressed hospitality businesses and retailers.”
