Changes to waste collection and recycling in East Renfrewshire over the festive period have been announced.

Grey, blue and green bins will be collected as normal, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day, but there will be no brown bin collections from Monday, December 21, until Monday, January 18.

A spokesperson for East Renfrewshire Council said: "If your bin would normally be collected on a Friday, please leave it out on the Monday following – December 28 and January 4.

"Christmas trees will be collected from kerbs from Monday, January 11. If you wish to dispose of your tree, or any other waste, earlier than this, you can take it to one of our recycling centres.

"Special uplifts will be suspended from Monday, December 21, until Monday, January 11."

Barrhead Recycling Centre will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Saturday, January 2.

However, the Greenhags waste centre will only be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
