A TEENAGER has been arrested for alleged drug offences and possession of a knife in Johnstone.

The 19-year-old suspect was approached by plain-clothes officers in Quarry Street at around 10am on Wednesday after they reportedly saw him take part in a drugs transaction.

The teenager attempted to flee the scene but was caught by officers after a short chase.

It is claimed he was found with 23g of cocaine and 16g of cannabis in his possession, with the drugs said to have an estimated street value of £3,200.

Police said the suspect has been charged with two drug supply charges and possession of a knife.

He was also charged with culpable and reckless conduct for reportedly failing to disclose he had a knife in his possession.

A warrant was later obtained by officers to search the suspect's home, where drug paraphernalia and traces of cocaine were allegedly recovered.

The teenager is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
