CARING staff at East Renfrewshire Council are going above and beyond the call of duty to make it a merry Christmas for local children who would otherwise have little to look forward to this festive season.
And they are asking Barrhead News readers to do their bit to help.
This year marks the council's sixth annual gift appeal, which provides presents to children and young people who otherwise might not receive anything at Christmas.
A council spokesperson said: "This year, we're asking for donations so that our schools can safely buy, store and distribute the gifts.
"We want to bring festive cheer to every child in East Renfrewshire and help Santa fulfill his key worker duties."
