A woman was rushed to hospital by paramedics after a crash on Brighton Road in Croydon this morning (November 30).

A section of Brighton Road was reported closed by traffic update services on Monday morning in the area as a result of the crash, which took place around 9am.

The collision happened close to the junction with Jarvis Road, in South Croydon.

Responding to a request from the Croydon Guardian, a spokesperson for London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed that a woman had been treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to hospital:

"We were called at 9.03am this morning (30 November) to reports of a road traffic collision on Brighton Road, South Croydon," the spokesperson said.

"We sent an ambulance crew, who treated a woman at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority," they added.

Traffic reports meanwhile advised road users to avoid the area while the emergency services attended:

"Brighton Road is closed both ways at the junction with Jarvis Road (in South Croydon) due to an RTC.

"Please avoid the area if possible," the Croydon Travel Alerts service said.

The Metropolitan Police were contacted for comment.
