MUSIC lovers have something to look forward to after organisers of an East Renfrewshire festival unveiled more additions to the glittering line-up for next year's event.

Electronic music pioneers Gary Numan and Leftfield are among the latest acts to sign up for the 2021 version of Playground.

They join funk legends Nile Rodgers and Chic, dance music specialists Underworld and synth icons Kraftwerk on the impressive bill.

Barrhead News:

The event takes place at Rouken Glen Park, in Giffnock, from Friday, July 30, until Sunday, August 1, and will include street food stalls, activities for children and a new wellness area.

Chart-topper Numan is sure to be a hit with the crowd when he performs on July 31.

He said: "I'm excited to be headed to Playground 2021, in a beautiful park with a bunch of global music legends, including Kraftwerk. See you there."

Singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer Rodgers, who is the headline act on August 1, is also looking forward to his "special" visit to East Renfrewshire.

"I'm delighted to be returning for Playground and seeing our amazing fans there next summer," he added.

Other acts confirmed for Playground include Jon Hopkins, Stephanie Cheape, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Kelis and Neneh Cherry.

Festival spokesperson Ashleigh Elliott said: “We’re delighted to announce wave two of our line-up and we are sure fans will agree it’s pretty much insane.

“There is much more to announce, including a major special guest which we are really excited about.

“At Playground HQ, we have been blown away by the amazing response to last week’s headliner reveal of Underworld, Kraftwerk 3-D, Nile Rodgers and Chic.

“We are on course to make this the most exciting festival of 2021.”

Tickets, priced at £59 per day or £159 for all three days, are now on sale at www.playgroundfestival.co.uk.
