AN East Renfrewshire entrepreneur has joined forces with a major housebuilder to help people grow their own produce.

Following a successful Crowdfunder, Laura Molloy launched her Goody Foody Gardens business in April with the aim of helping busy families who are keen to grow their own grub.

Start-up packs provide everything needed to grow vegetables, including wooden raised beds, soil, plants and seeds.

Expert gardeners install the beds and offer return visits and advice on what to plant and how to nurture and harvest the produce.

Now a new partnership with Cala Homes (West) – believed to be the first of its kind with a homebuilder – will see Laura take her innovative approach further afield to developments in Ayr and Bishopbriggs.

She told the Barrhead News: “We’re absolutely thrilled to offer buyers the opportunity to grow their own wonderful, vibrant fresh veg in their brand new back gardens.

“Growing your own is becoming increasingly popular as people become more conscious of the provenance of their food, as well as their impact on the environment when it comes to food waste and single-use plastic packaging.

“Our veg beds allow people to grow up to 11 different types of veg and three herbs – plenty to create wonderful dishes at home that are packed with colour and nutrition.

“Our raised beds are particularly popular with families and, since they come installed by one of our expert gardeners and include ongoing veg top-ups and annual maintenance, they’re perfect for novices and the green-fingered alike.”

Mum-of-three Laura developed the idea for her new business from a desire for her kids to eat healthily and understand where their food comes from.
