FIVE classes at two East Renfrewshire schools have been placed into isolation following positive Covid-19 tests.
Health bosses have moved in to Giffnock and Thornliebank primaries with a number of people sent home from the education hubs.
It is understood those affected at the former also include catering staff. East Renfrewshire Council chiefs have confirmed a reduced lunch service is temporarily in place.
However, bosses at the local authority have moved to reassure parents all necessary precautions have been taken to keep children safe.
An East Renfrewshire Council spokesman said: “Following notification of positive tests linked to Giffnock and Thornliebank primaries, we made colleagues at Public Health aware and are following all necessary procedures, including one class at Giffnock and four classes at Thornliebank now self-isolating at home as a precaution.
"Parents have been informed of the measures we are taking and home learning provision is being put in place to support these pupils.
"We have also moved to a reduced lunch service in Giffnock Primary this week due to staff absences.”
