A BARRHEAD charity has staged its first ‘Well Walk’ to tackle mental health issues.

Members of the Include Me 2 Club started the initiative to help people improve their physical and mental health during current lockdown restrictions.

And despite strong winds and heavy rain, more than 70 people turned out for Saturday’s event.

Charlene Ramsay, Include Me 2 Club’s Well Walk co-ordinator, told the Barrhead News: “Due to lockdown, people weren’t getting to go out so often but the Well Walk means they are still getting out and about.

Barrhead News:

“A lot of people have found their mental health deteriorating through being stuck in the house, with nowhere to go.

“With the launch of the Well Walk, it means the community is getting to see friends whilst sticking to government rules.

“We are in the process of organising our bigger walks for the last weekend of each month, so we have Rouken Glen at the end of November and Pollok Park for the end of December.

Barrhead News:

“One of our students at the Include Me 2 Club will be taking the reins for our mini-walks, which will take place once a week at Cowan Park or on other small walks around Barrhead.”
