THREE MSPs have written to water bosses following a flood of complaints in East Dunbartonshire.

Jamie Hepburn, Rona Mackay, and Stuart McDonald are demanding Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) chiefs take action after a spate of incidents in the Kelvin Valley.

It follows flooding on the B757 Birdston Road, between Kirkintilloch and Milton of Campsie, last week.

Mr McDonald said: "We all recognise the risk of flooding continues to increase due to climate change.

"However, there does seem to be specific problems emerging along the Kelvin and I am keen to hear from SEPA what more can be done to reduce the risk at a local level."

Mr Hepburn said: "I know residents in and around Kilsyth have had repeated problems with flooding near the Kelvin.

"SEPA have engaged in large scale flood prevention work elsewhere and I am sure constituents would want to know what scope they have for more action to help protect the road network and premises locally."

Ms Mackay said: "A number of constituents expressed alarm regarding the recent flooding of residential areas and vital transport routes in East Dunbartonshire.

"With the increase of severe weather, that burden should not fall on my constituents. I look forward to exploring preventative measures with SEPA."
