AN investigation is underway after thieves targeted a school in Johnstone.

Officers attended St Margaret’s Primary, in Buchanan Street, after receiving a report of three young men forcing entry to the building at around 10pm on Saturday.

On arrival, they noticed a window to the rear of the school had been smashed and an alarm had been activated.

Officers with police dogs searched the school but no-one was found inside.

A police spokesperson said enquiries were ongoing to confirm if anything has been stolen and CCTV footage is currently being reviewed.

Witnesses and anyone else who has information is asked to call officers on 101.
