WORK to install 12 electric vehicle chargers across four car parks in Renfrewshire has resumed following the easing of lockdown rules.
The new chargers will be installed in Collier Street car park, in Johnstone, as well as Paisley car parks in Bridge Street, Hunter Street and Maxwell Street, as part of ongoing efforts to reduce harmful emissions.
Under the safe working conditions put in place in light of the coronavirus pandemic, the work is expected to be completed by the end of August.
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “Ultra-low emission vehicles help us to improve air quality across Renfrewshire and tackle climate change.
“The number of vehicles and charging points in Renfrewshire has steadily increased since 2012.”
The spokesperson added: “We will continue to encourage our residents to move to ultra-low emission vehicles, as well as committing to use these vehicles in our fleet wherever possible.”
