A MAN faces a court appearance after he allegedly stole alcohol and a kitchen knife from a Barrhead supermarket.
Police were called to the Asda store in the town’s Main Street at around 4pm on Tuesday, July 21.
It is claimed that a 22-year-old suspect fled the scene with stolen goods and was arrested by officers after a brief chase.
Inspector Stevie Scott, based at Giffnock police office, said: “A male was within the premises of Asda. We were contacted and attended.
“The male left the store and ran behind the Barrhead Foundry, carrying a bottle of Grey Goose vodka, and crossed the river.
“Police officers had given chase and he was apprehended on Stewart Street. He was in possession of stolen items, including a black-handled kitchen knife.”
The man is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.
