A MAN has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal after he allegedly assaulted a police officer while resisting arrest in Bishopston.

Police received several reports on Saturday night of a group of men causing a disturbance and attempting to fight in Greenock Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, the 25-year-old suspect ran off but was arrested nearby at around 1.10am.

The man reportedly struggled with police during his arrest and is said to have kicked one of the officers in the chest while being placed in a cell van.

He was subsequently charged with resisting arrest and police assault.
