MOTORISTS are being warned to expect disruption this week as resurfacing work takes place on one of the busiest stretches of road in Renfrewshire.

A team from Scotland TranServ will be carrying out repairs on the M8 motorway at the White Cart Viaduct, near Glasgow Airport.

It will mean partial closure of the motorway overnight, from 10pm until 6am, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Peter McCann, Scotland TranServ’s major bridges manager, said: “This is an important section of the trunk road network and, as such, is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working.

"It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety.

"Works will be carried out overnight in order to reduce the impact on communities and businesses as they recover at this time.”

The closure on Wednesday night will allow eastbound works to take place, with westbound works being carried out on Thursday and Friday.

Diversions will be in place and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
