AN investigation is underway after a would-be thief targeted a house in Renfrew.

The owner left the Afton Drive property at around 1pm on Wednesday and returned at around 5pm to find it had been ransacked, with some floorboards lifted.

The rear patio doors had been forced open but nothing was taken.

Police have said their enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101.
