Music legend Annie Lennox has sent out a heartfelt message to graduating students after graduations were postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Students from Glasgow Caledonian University would have been celebrating their graduation this week, but the pandemic has forced the proud moment to take place online.

Students have been posting graduation pictures on social media, with the university promising a physical celebration next year.

Chancellor of the university, Annie Lennox, told students they are aware "this is not the way we would've envisioned their graduation".

She said: "I very much share and appreciate how disappointing it is for us all not to be together today in person.

"But, these are unprecedented times, and one thing I've realised is that human beings are able to adapt in more ways than we might have previously realised."

The Eurythmics singer added: "The global pandemic has changed many things, but it can't change the exceptional achievements of your cohort of graduates.

"We want you to succeed and make this world a better place in the best way you can.

"The world is waiting for you to get on board, go out there and be an influencer, contributor, a changemaker."
