BLUE bin collections in East Renfrewshire are to be reintroduced from next week.
Residents have been unable to use their blue bins to recycle paper and cardboard in recent months as the coronavirus pandemic meant East Renfrewshire Council scaled back some of its services.
However, it has now been confirmed that these collections can be reinstated as staffing levels have increased since lockdown first came into force.
Uplifts of green bins, for plastic, cans and bottles, and brown bins containing garden and food waste are taking place this week.
The next collection of grey bins, for non-recyclable items, will take place on the week beginning Monday, June 29.
A council statement said: “Once blue bin collections resume, we’ll return to the three-week recycling cycle – excluding brown bins, which will be collected with your green bins.
“Please don’t leave additional waste in bags beside your grey bin, as it isn’t safe for our staff to touch and it won’t be collected.
“If you do have excess garden waste, we suggest finding an area in the garden suitable to allow it to compost naturally.”
