A MAN has appeared in court charged with assault to severe injury after an alleged stabbing on a Renfrewshire cycle path.

Three cyclists were on a bike path near Nether Johnstone Small Holdings, in Milliken Road, Kilbarchan, at about 10.20pm last Wednesday when they were injured.

Police Scotland said two men, aged 37 and 29, sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital, while an 18-year-old suffered minor facial injuries that did not require medical attention.

Alan Cadle, 30, from Johnstone, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court today in connection with the incident.

He made no plea to charges of assault to severe injury and possessing an offensive weapon.

Cadle was released on bail pending a further court date.
