AN investigation is underway following a murder bid in Barrhead last night.

At around 8.35pm, a 29-year-old man was struck by a car in Stewart Street.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, for treatment.

Police have said a 23-year-old man has been arrested and their enquiries are ongoing.
