MORE than 250 people have backed a petition to lift the ban on outdoor alcohol consumption in Scotland during lockdown.
Currently in most council areas, including Glasgow, it is an offence to have an open container or consume alcohol in a public place.
But with the closure of pubs until at least Phase 2, some want a change.
Gary Mitchell, who launched the petition, said: “With social institutions likely being closed for the remainder of the year we should be able to drink in public areas, such as parks, which allow for individuals to socialise while still adhering to distancing rules.”
