YOUNG people across Renfrewshire have been receiving activity packs to help them beat boredom during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Renfrewshire Council’s Youth Services team has delivered the gifts to entertain and keep in touch with members of their youth clubs.

The activity packs contain arts and crafts, books and plant-growing kits, as well as online activities which offer up-to-date information.

A spokesperson for the Youth Services team said: “We have enjoyed delivering the packs and keeping in touch with young people whilst encouraging them to stay home and stay safe.

“The feedback has been fantastic and has been a boost not only for the young people but also for youth workers.”

Renfrewshire Youth Voice, a charity run by young people and supported by Youth Services, has also launched the Unheard Voices campaign to document the effects of lockdown and ask young people how services can better meet their needs.

The group has been busy creating podcasts, tips for coping, questionnaires and fun quizzes to help keep Renfrewshire’s young people involved and active.

Councillor Michelle Campbell, young person’s champion for Renfrewshire, said: “Recent times have been extremely difficult for everyone.

“There is a great strain placed on people, so it’s great to see not only services being creative and maintaining those vital links but also young people themselves reaching out to others to offer advice and support.

“Renfrewshire’s young people should feel assured that their youth workers are still there, ready to listen and support them and hear what they need in their communities to help them throughout the lockdown and beyond.”
