A CAMPAIGN to get vital safety equipment to the coronavirus frontline has been supported by bosses at a DIY store.

The team at B&Q in Darnley donated rolls of plastic needed to make protective gowns as part of a drive by NHS doctors and allies who are getting personal protective equipment (PPE) directly to where it is needed.

MedSupplyDrive UK Scotland (MSDUK) had urged businesses and individuals who have stockpiles of PPE to donate them to hospitals, GP hubs, hospices or care homes.
That prompted a positive response from a number of B&Q stores.

A spokesperson for MSDUK said: “We are delighted to receive these generous donations from kind staff at B&Q stores.

“The support we have received so far from businesses and local communities is fantastic.

“However, there is still an urgent need for high-quality PPE to be delivered to frontline staff at health care facilities all over the country, so if any businesses or individuals are able to donate materials or items of PPE, then we would greatly appreciate it if you could please get in touch.

“No contribution is too small.”
