BOSSES at Barrhead Travel insist they are confident the firm can weather the storm caused by the coronavirus crisis.

The company is operating with a reduced team after the spread of Covid-19 put the travel industry on hold.

And with the current lockdown now into its sixth week, there is still no clear indication of when people will be able to head off on holiday.

However, Jacqueline Dobson, president of Barrhead Travel, said she isn’t ready to press the panic button.

She told the Barrhead News: “Travel is an extremely resilient and adaptable industry and we’ve overcome so many challenges over the past few years.

“We have an extraordinary team here at Barrhead Travel who have all worked tirelessly to support our customers. The team-work and dedication demonstrated over the past few weeks has been incomparable.”

At a time when many holidaymakers will have concerns about trips being cancelled or not being able to jet off due to their own financial woes, Ms Dobson remains hopeful the industry will bounce back relatively quickly.

She said: “I think most people will already be starting to think ahead to their future travel plans. Holidays are such an important part of our lives. When the time comes, we’re expecting a flurry of bookings, particularly from those looking to book last-minute escapes.

“There are so many options when it comes to holidays. We’ve got dates right up until 2022 on sale, which means people can plan ahead with a low deposit and manageable monthly instalments.”

Ms Dobson added: “Our holidays are financially protected, so our customers can be sure that the money they have paid towards their holidays is completely secure, no matter what happens.

“We’re working really hard behind the scenes to help everyone and we would particularly like to thank our customers who have been so patient and understanding during this time.

“It’s a frustrating time for those whose travel plans have been affected but there are plenty of options to rebook your holiday for later in the year or even for next year.”

Anyone who has a query concerning an upcoming holiday they have booked through Barrhead Travel is asked to send an email to supportteam@barrheadtravel.co.uk
