AN ARTHURLIE fan has been able to see the funny side after the Barrhead club mistakenly announced his death on social media.

The Junior football outfit had offered its condolences to the loved ones of long-time supporter Frank McShane – only to later discover he is still very much alive.

Frank responded to the club's social media post by declaring: "The rumours of my death are grossly exaggerated.”

Arthurlie chiefs have now issued an apology for the mix-up.

In a Facebook post, the club stated: "Arthurlie would like to apologise to the friends, family, colleagues and of course the man himself Frank McShane who we reported in good faith that he had passed away.

"Arthurlie FC send our sincere apologies for any upset caused."
