A BARRHEAD man has been doing his bit to prevent people standing too close to each other during the coronavirus lockdown...by painting 'safe distance' signs outside the town's pharmacies.
The Good Samaritan, named Duncan, was joined by his friend Gary as, with paintbrushes in hand, they took to the town’s Main Street last night and daubed the words ‘Keep Your Distance,’ along with markers indicating where customers picking up prescriptions should stand.
Duncan’s proud daughters, Heather and Fiona, shared the selfless act on social media, praising their dad.
“As a painter and decorator in Barrhead, I feel so helpless when brave men and women are doing so much important life-changing and lifesaving work," said Duncan.
“Picking up a prescription for my daughter, I noticed the people waiting in line outside the chemist didn't keep two metres apart, despite a notice asking them to do so.
“I thought what can I do? Is there anything I can do to help?
“So I got a tin of road marking paint I had in the garage from a job from a few years back, phoned Gary and arranged to meet him at the chemist on our Main Street.
“Our wee bit. If it’s safe, think about it.”
