EFFORTS are being made to save old toys from being binned.

Bosses at the Zero Waste Scotland charity are staging Pass it on Week to encourage people to recycle their toys, rather than discarding them.

Iain Gulland, chief executive of Zero Waste Scotland, said passing on toys that are in good condition benefits the environment by avoiding the need to buy new and also diverts existing materials from potentially ending up in landfill or incineration.

He added: “It is a great way to share happiness, plus buying and wasting less will reduce our carbon footprint.

“Never think you are too small to make a difference.”
