A MAN has been arrested for reportedly assaulting a teenage boy in Renfrew.

It is claimed the 31-year-old man grabbed and threatened the 16-year-old boy with a lock-back knife in Broadloan at around 5.35pm on Tuesday, March 10.

Police said the teenager was left badly shaken by the incident and raised the alarm when he arrived home.

Officers quickly traced a suspect nearby and he was arrested for alleged offences of assault, possession of a knife and breach of the peace.

Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to call them on 101.
