YOUNGSTERS delved into the magical world of storytelling by heading to the library at the Barrhead Foundry for a special event.
To mark National Fairytale Day, parents took their children along to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon decorating ‘story stones’ with pens and stickers.
The crafts activity sparked a variety of colourful creations, with stones being adorned with everything from rainbows to artwork of Peppa Pig.
Once they had finished, the youngsters were encouraged to hold up their unique designs and share stories about the character they had created on their stone.
The kids also used a selection of words scattered on tables, such as ‘mermaid,’ to create their own fairytales and enjoyed listening to library staff reading out classic stories such as Cinderella.
Breea Keenan, media manager at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, which organised the event, told the Barrhead News: “All of the children had a great time.
“There was a wide range of activities for them to get involved in and they really enjoyed the stories.
“There was something creative to do for all ages, from colouring to using their imaginations to write their own stories.
“These events are important in encouraging children to use libraries and allowing them to develop a love of reading.”
