A PAIR of teenagers’ dreams of winning hit BBC show The Greatest Dancer have ended in disappointment.

Charlie Gardiner, from Barrhead, and Lauren High, of Neilston, finished in fourth place with their energetic troupe Dancepoint during the grand final on Saturday night.

The talented group performed their last Alice in Wonderland-inspired routine with dance captain Todrick Hall before being knocked out of the competition.

Lauren posted photos of her time on the television show on Instagram and commented: “From Oz to Wonderland, what an incredible experience! Thank you to all the team at The Greatest Dancer!

“I have met so many talented, kind and amazing people that I will never forget.

“Thank you to my team who is my second family! I love you guys so much and wouldn’t want to share this experience with anybody else!”

Staff and pupils at St Luke’s High published video messages on social media every day last week in support of Charlie, a current pupil at the school, and Lauren, a former pupil who is currently studying at the Dancepoint College, in Glasgow.

Karen Hunter, depute headteacher at St Luke’s High, tweeted on Saturday night: “We could not be more proud of Charlie and Lauren – absolute champions in our eyes!”

Twinkled-toed duo Charlie and Lauren have been going from strength to strength since they joined Dancepoint.

Charlie was aged just 10 when she joined the dance troupe and last year, the 17-year-old was selected for the role of sportscotland Young Ambassador to promote sport and motivate other young people to be more active.

Lauren, 18, started dancing when she was just three and has since starred in shows in the likes of Dublin and Paris, as well as performing for the King of Bahrain.
