MEMBERS of the 1st Barrhead Boys’ Brigade raised pots of cash by staging their annual coffee morning.

St Andrew’s Church was the venue for the fun event, with parishioners offering their support by baking cakes for the boys to sell.

There was also a bottle stall and a bingo game to enjoy.

Youngsters from the Anchor section handed out various sweet treats, the Juniors manned the stalls and the Company section served up plenty of hot drinks.

A total of £771 was raised, much to the delight of organisers.

Jim Glen, Captain of the 1st Barrhead BB, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive such good support from the community.

“The event was very, very busy and we’re delighted the community rallied round to help the young children.

“The money raised will go towards helping boys aged five to 18 and there will be a range of activity nights for them.”

The 1st Barrhead Company meet every Thursday night at St Andrew’s Church, in Ralston Road.

There are 60 boys across the different age groups within the organisation.
Jim said: “We try to give the boys the best experience and have a wide range of different services.”
