A BARRHEAD Scout group is on the lookout for new volunteers.

It is hoped more recruits will step forward to help the 1st Barrhead Scout Group, based in Arthurlie Street.

Enthusiastic nature lovers are needed to supervise Scouts who undertake regular camping and walking activities.

Janet Campbell, group Scout leader, said: “We’re looking for well-motivated people who are able to do outdoor activities and enjoy working with young people.

“It’s a great thing to get involved in, as it gives you something to do and you are giving back to the community by helping young people become responsible adults.”

Meeting every Friday evening, the Scout section takes part in a range of adventurous activities, including archery and mountain biking.

Recently, they have also been undertaking voluntary work at the Dams to Darnley Country Park.

“We are always looking for other adult volunteers who maybe don’t want to commit to it every week,” Janet added.

“Occasional helpers are always good, or even people who can help with the grounds and the upkeep of the hall.”

Send an email to firstbarrheadscout@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer.
