A GANG of thugs battered a man as he walked along the street with his partner.
The 37-year-old suffered bruises to his face after the men pounced on him in Argyle Street, Paisley, at around 6.45pm on Sunday.
Cops say a group of men got out of a red car following an altercation with the victim, before laying into him, knocking him to the ground, and kicking him in the head.
The brutes then got back into the car and drove off.
The victim was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he was later released after being treated for his wounds.
Officers are still trying to work out how many thugs were involved, but have released a description of two attackers.
One is described as white, medium build, with short dark hair, and was wearing a blue body-warmer.
The other was also a white male, medium build, with balding hair. He spoke with a local accent.
Inspector Iain Ross, based in Paisley police station, said: "This was a horrible attack.
"We are asking for anyone who witnessed anything to contact us as soon as possible."
Phone police on 101.
