MORE road works are to begin next week in Barrhead - this time to resurface a residential route.

East Renfrewshire Council (ERC) has issued the notice that Lomond Drive, between the junctions with Linnhe Drive and Stobs Drive, will be closed from Monday, February 24.

Seaforth Crescent will also be closed between Linne Drive and Lomond Drive.

Pedestrian access will be maintained and some local vehicle access to properties may be permitted.

The resurfacing is expected to be completed by Friday, March 13.

It is the latest in a series of road works hitting Barrhead drivers from all directions.

The intersection at Hurlet Cross is undergoing investment to install sophisticated traffic lights to supposedly improve the flow of vehicles.

Scottish Water is already doing work on Main Street for three weeks, but now ERC has added two jobs at the Dovecothall Roundabout.

There will be six days of works on the roundabout itself, replacing grass with gravel and adding planters. The council said during this, the inside lane will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm to minimise disruption.

But 85 days of works also kicks off from Friday along Main Street to improve lighting, forcing rolling lane closures throughout.
