COUNCIL officials are set to write to Bishopton residents in a bid to resolve recent problems with bin collections.
Village representative James MacLaren has met council officials as well as Bishopton Community Council to discuss reasons for ongoing failed collections in the Craigton Estate.
Pick-ups in Cawdor Crescent and other streets in the estate have been affected by parking issues and it has now been agreed officials will remind residents that, on bin collection days, everyone must park on the same side of the road if lorries are to get access.
Councillor MacLaren, who represents Bishopton, Bridge of Weir and Langbank on Renfrewshire Council, said: “This was a positive meeting with council officials and I was pleased they got the opportunity to hear from John McGinnigle of the community council about the ongoing parking issues.
“This often comes with parking in residential areas and I completely respect the residents need to park, but residents need to organise themselves, if possible, as the current situation is affecting bin collections.
“I believe it is positive that the council writing to local residents to remind them when bin collection day would be a timely reminder and hopefully encourage respectful parking.
“I am happy to liaise with local residents and the council to make sure we finally see a solution to bin collection issues at Cawdor Crescent and nearby.”
