RANGERS and St Mirren fans have united to pay tribute to much-loved Johnstone schoolboy Ayden Cochrane.

The teenager tragically passed away due to cystic fibrosis earlier this month after a lengthy fight while campaigning for the use of a potentially life-saving drug, Trikafta.

The drug, which was branded “almost a cure” by doctors, was granted through a compassionate-use scheme by the company Vertex, despite not yet been granted an EU licence.

Tragically, the day after loved ones shared the news on social media, Ayden’s condition deteriorated.

He was placed on a ventilator on Sunday and, on Monday, his family confirmed he had passed away.

Gers fan group the Union Bears even provided a banner for the youngster saying "Rest Easy Ayden". Rangers captain James Tavernier - who didn't play in the 1-0 win through injury - later dedicated the win to Ayden on social media.

Rangers legend and Renfrewshire resident Ally McCoist also shared his best wishes for Ayden - who was a fan of the Ibrox club - on his own Instagram account.
