STAFF at two charity shops in East Renfrewshire are appealing for people to donate unwanted Christmas gifts.
Barnardo’s Scotland, which has stores in Barrhead and Clarkston, said the sale of unwanted items provides a vital source of income for its work in supporting vulnerable children.
The appeal comes as a survey suggested around half of adults in Barrhead received gifts they don’t want and will never use.
Barnardo’s Scotland’s director Martin Crewe said: “We’ve all received gifts that end up atthe back of a cupboard but this year, instead of holding onto gifts, we’re asking people to donate them.
“Donating to our stores means somebody else can find joy in our unwanted gifts.
“It also helps us to bring care, hope and love to vulnerable children all year round.”
Gifts can be handed in at the charity shops at the Westbourne Centre, in Barrhead, and The Toll, Clarkston.
