A BARRHEAD schoolgirl has been left in a spin after winning unlimited access to rides at a famous carnival.

Ava O'Reilly is one of just five ‘superfans’ to be named as an official ambassador for the IRN-BRU Carnival, in Glasgow.

As part of her new role, nine-year-old Ava becomes ‘the face of the funfair,’ taking the event’s social media followers on their carnival experiences and sharing their top tips, favourite rides and stories to an audience of more than 50,000 people.

The Glasgow institution launched an appeal in November to find its biggest fans, with thrill-seekers aged five and older invited to apply.

As part of her prize, Ava receives the ‘ultimate’ IRN-BRU Carnival package, with unlimited and behind-the-scenes access for herself and three friends or relatives.

A spokesman for the carnival said: “We didn’t think we could find ambassadors as confident and charismatic as last year’s winners but we were quickly proven wrong by the amount of amazing entries we received.

“Each of our winners is a true carnival superfan and we can’t wait to see what fantastic content Ava will create as part of her role.

“The mass amount of entries we received really showed us how important the carnival is to people and we’re delighted to be able to include some of our regulars in our centenary celebrations.

“We’d like to thank each and every person who entered our competition and invite our visitors to follow our brilliant ambassadors’ experiences on our social channels with us.”

Now open for its 100th year, the indoor carnival at the SEC, in Glasgow, boasts more than 65 of the best rides and attractions from across the continent.

It runs until Sunday, January 12. Visit here for more information.
